From the huge pyramids of Teotihuacan to the extensive and remarkable layout of Chichén Itzá to the smaller-but-spectacular Monte Alban ruins in Oaxaca, creativity is plentiful. One of the important things I most delighted in were the sculpted stone friezes that ran around a number of the more complete buildings. Oaxaca calls to mind those beautiful carvings and, oddly, Chinese writing.
