Ombres was developed by Joan Mas and published by Typephases. Ombres includes 3 designs and family bundle choices. p > Very close thematically and in design to the rest of our "whimbats" (the Absurdies, Bizarries, Illustries, Genteta and Whimsies series), the Ombres include a variety of peculiar shapes and illustrations of people that vary from cute to frightening, with everything in between.

Ombres offers152 pictures in 3 files. These imaginary characters were produced with various techniques: quick pencil sketches, ink, watercolour, though once digitized and streamlined to bring them into the font files there is little obvious distinction. The silhouettes, rather than flat shadows are more dimensional in their look, because they have been digitized maintaining the original brushwork or pencil strokes of their source illustrations. Some of them advise of the venerable custom of metal stock cuts from classic type foundries. The digitized outcomes are quite different, but the energetic nature of the topics has been mantained.

Their vectorial file format implies you can use them at any size without any loss of quality. Every Ombres dingbat offers ready-made images for a range of imaginative tasks. They can be used as they come or quickly customized in any graphics program. At small sizes they are perfect area illustrations with a whimsical touch; at big sizes they can bring a whole page, a spread or even a huge poster to live.
