On the Town JNL is a reworking of Parks Department JNL, providing it a traditional ‘‘ solid black magic Deco treatment'.

The broad monoline typeface of the initial style was inspired by hand lettering on a WPA (Functions Development Administration) poster.

Art Deco typography and the structured style it accepted often invokes pictures of New york city City in the 1930s and 1940s, therefore On the Town JNL is named for the classic MGM musical stellar Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munchen that was recorded on place in ‘‘ the city that never sleeps'.
