Posada typically cut his own lettering that appeared like more ornamental versions of Gothic wood types. His most significant imagery originates from his Calaveras celebrating the Day of the Dead. Calaveras typically represent effigies of living people portrayed as skeletons setting about their everyday activities. These are typically amusing and spirited in a manner that helps bridge this world with the beyond.
