THE STYLES

-Pantera Pro is the most complete style, and although its default appearance is mono-rhythmic it gets truly spirited and crazy like the examples of the posters by just triggering the Decorative Ligatures button in the Open-type Panel of Adobe Illustrator. Nevertheless, I recommend utilizing also the Glyphs Panel due to the fact that there you'll find a lot more variations per letter.

Pantera Pro is in fact, coded in a method the mix of densities will constantly look fantastic.

-Pantera Black Left, and Pantera Black Right are in fact "lite" variations of Pantera Pro: They have really little Open-Type code, so what you see here is what you get. Pantera Black Left has its left strokes thick, while Pantera Black Right has its right strokes thick.

-Pantera White is a charming member in this family that looks lighter and airy, for this reason its name. With the function Basic Ligatures activated (liga) the typeface gets very playful.

-Pantera Caps is based on indication painters lettering and given that it follows the very same pointed brush rules as the other styles, it matches perfectly.

-Pantera Claws like its name recommends, is a set of icons that were done by our dear panther.

THE STORY

It is stated that typography can never ever be as meaningful as calligraphy, but in some cases it can get close enough.

I tend to think that calligraphic trials, in order to work well as prospective font styles, require very first to go through really stringent filters prior to going digital: While calligraphy is synonym of liberty (when its guidelines are mastered), type-design, in the other hand, has its battleground a little tighter and tougher.

When I practice pointed brush lettering, there are many things occurring on the paper. And many of them are scrumptious. The ones who understand my work may see that although a lot of my font styles are really meaningful, my handmade brush trials are much more dynamic than them.

With that in mind, this time I attempted to go further and rescue more of those things that are lost in the procedure of believing type when initially sketches are calligraphic. I questioned if I could create something wild, for this reason its name Panther, by comprehending the randomness that sometimes calligraphy communicates and turning it to something systemic: With Pantera, I developed a bought disorder.

Like it takes place a lot in lots of sort of lettering styles, in order to improve the written word the scribe mixes the thickness of the strokes and the width of the letters. Like one of my favorite coaches say (1 ), they make thoughtful gestures Some lively strokes go down with a thick, while some do that with a thin. Some letters are extremely narrow, implying a few of them will require to be really broad to compensate. Why not?. The calligrapher is constantly thinking on the following letters, and he/she designs in his head the mix of thicks and thins prior to he/she performs them. He/she understands the playful rhythm the words will have prior to writing them. It takes some time and skill to master this and attain elegant results.

Going back to the font style, in Pantera, this combination of varying densities and widths of letters were Open-Type coded so the user will see satisfactory results by just allowing or disabling some buttons on the glyphs panel.

I'm really delighted with the outcome given that it's not really easy to find fonts which play with the words' rhythm like Pantera does, following obviously, a strong calligraphic base.

I believe that if you were on the prowl for ingenious font styles, this is your possibility to go wild and get Pantera!
