Pardesi font style is called after a tune from Raja Hindustani, a 1996 Bollywood film directed by Dharmesh Darshan. The lead roles were played by Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor. Together they sing: ‘‘ Pardesi, pardesi, jaana nahi ', suggesting so much as: ‘‘ Immigrant, immigrant, do not go'. I remember this song effectively, as I was backpacking through India and Nepal at the time and it was played over and over once again on all far away buses I took.
Pardesi typeface is a fat, rounded, marker-pen font, suitable for books and posters. It features comprehensive language support.
