Plantain ™ was commissioned by Smarter Image for their catalog numerous years back. Very vibrant and tightly spaced with tall x-height; suitable for big headlines and adwork. Named after one of my favorite foods: fried plantain; yum! Original name: Plantin Adweight. Plantin was initially developed by F. H. Pierpont, who based the design on that of a well-known 16th century printer, Christopher Plantin, for whom Pierpont's typeface was named. Now readily available in a stencil style.
