Publisher: AdobePoetica was developed in 1992, and is the very first Adobe Originals script typeface; designed on chancery handwriting scripts established during the Italian Renaissance. This stylish style of writing formed the basis for italic typefaces and for contemporary calligraphy. Adobe designer Robert Slimbach caught the vitality and grace of the chancery writing style in this new series of styles. Characteristic of the chancery hand, Poetica includes alternate swash characters, ligatures, and decorative styles to embellish an otherwise official script. To represent the range of form and richness of this hand, Slimbach developed alternate alphabets and character sets that consist of a varied collection of letterforms.
