It all began with a little hand-printing I discovered on the dinner menu at a coastal Maine dining establishment. I took a menu home for future recommendation. A number of months later, some similar hand-lettering on another regional dinner menu captured my eye. I became a sort of connoisseur of menu lettering. After tweaking and changing a few of these menu-inspired (uppercase) characters, I extracted some matching lower cases and developed a series of weights and oblique designs. The outcome: Pumpkinseed, a full-featured, eight-style casual handlettering face. OpenType functions include real little caps, old-style and lining figures, numerous ligatures, and Eastern and Central European alphabets-- more than 650 characters in all.
