Rostrum is a hand drawn font style released by Canada Type.

The Rostrum fonts are a revival and growth of a type called Oleander, designed in 1938 by Julius Kirn for the Genzsch & & Heyse foundry in Hamburg. Much of the initial uppercase letters had some blackletter residues added onto them, so in this digital version they were relegated to the Rostrum 2 typeface, while more contemporary forms were developed for the Rostrum One font style. Characters from both typefaces are interchangeable through software application' font menus and glyph schemes in the Postscript and Real Type variations, while the OpenType variation makes the most of the Ligatures, Contextual Alternates and Stylistic Alternates includes to perform character substitutions.

Rostrum finds the middle ground between italic and brush script, that makes it rather functional in all-caps settings. Its majuscules have an extremely distinct curl that makes the typeface effect-ready and really appealing in packaging design. Plenty of alternates and ligatures are sprayed throughout the character set.

The Rostrum fonts are totally free for individual or business use under the terms laid out in the Canada Type Requirement License Agreement.
