Sarabande is a painstaking recreation of Jean Jannon's popular "Garamond" of 1621—— likewise understood as "Caracteres de l'universite." Whereas the original was meant for setting French and Latin text just, Sarabande has all standard global characters and diacritics, along with a Euro sign. (There are however no characters for greater mathematics or logic, and the number of other unhistorical characters has likewise been kept to a practical minimum.) Sarabande features 2 styles: a roman and a true italic.
