Senko Hanabi (線香花火 - Japanese: incense-stick fireworks) is a kind of Japanese sparkler. These standard sparklers are said to stimulate "mono no mindful" - "an empathy towards things"; the flash of sadness when advised of the fleeting nature of life.
I am constantly a bit melancholic this time of the year, so when I created this font style, I wished to give it an appropriate name.
Senko Hanabi was made using a brush and Chinese ink. It is a beautiful font, which comes with stylistic alternates, discretionary ligatures and a shimmering amount of diacritics.
Remains for me to wish you all a very pleased new year. Let's do our best to make it one worth remembering!
