The motivation for SJURecord was calligraphic lettering utilized for the title of a student paper, St. John's Record, throughout the late 1920s and early 1930s. The three upper-case and 9 lower-case letters were considerably various from any calligraphic lettering I had actually developed, so I believed developing a total typeface around these twelve letters would be an intriguing difficulty. SJCRecord has only one weight but has a large array of accented characters.
