In the 1920s the Danish designer, printer and designer Knud V. Engelhardt made some striking typefaces for signs. The Swedish typeface designer Mårten Thavenius utilized some structural elements from the work of Engelhardt when he developed Skilt Gothic-- a typeface to be utilized for display screen and text settings in the 21st century.
Skilt Gothic comes in 9 weights-- thin, light, routine, medium, semibold, vibrant, extrabold, black and ultra-- in roman and italic respectively. A wide variety of glyph options are available through OpenType functions. Skilt Gothic has assistance for more than 50 languages.
