Somatype was developed by James Marsh and released by ArtyType. Somatype contains 5 designs and family bundle options. p > As with any attempt at a new typeface, you desire to create something various. A tough task as most clear fonts are based on something previous.

Somatype isn't in fact based upon any specific font however it has inescapable resemblances to others. The crucial distinction here being the distinct peculiarity of the connection points going opposite to the standard; exhibited best by the lower case d & & e.

Once created, the unique quality was used any place possible, keeping the rest of the characters in a sympathetic, rounded style.

I first developed this in the lightweight variation, seeing it working best as a large open display font style for publications etc. however understood it would be too light for body copy at little scale, so, medium and strong weights were created to fix that issue.

Incidentally, the word 'somatype' literally indicates body-type.
