Somatype isn't really based upon any specific font style but it has unavoidable similarities to others. The important distinction here being the unique quirk of the connection points going opposite to the standard; exemplified best by the lower case d & & e.
Once devised, the unique characteristic was used any place possible, keeping the rest of the characters in a considerate, rounded design. I initially created this in the lightweight version, seeing it working best as a large open screen typeface for magazines etc. however recognized it would be too light for body copy at small scale, so, medium and bold weights were created to deal with that issue.
Incidentally, the word 'somatype' actually suggests body-type.
