SST was designed by Akira Kobayashi and published by Monotype. SST consists of 17 styles and household plan choices. p > Created for international branding and supporting 93 languages, the SST ® typefaces mix the natural readability and regulated structure of contemporary sans serif designs. In integrating these qualities, the SST family is downplayed, versatile-- and sure to be a timeless design.

The SST Pan-European household has 17 typefaces in total, supporting the W1G character set. It spans 6 weights from ultra light to heavy, each with an italic complement. In addition, three condensed styles and two monospaced (typewriter) typefaces were drawn to additional expand the family's huge range of uses.

SST's subtle style characteristics offer a quietly good-looking and consistently friendly typographic presence that can be used for almost any typographic application. Broad range branding applicability combined with coverage for nearly a hundred languages, makes SST among the most extensively available and functional typefaces available.

Originally created in partnership with the worldwide customer brand name, Sony, the SST family is one of the most comprehensive type families available. Since substantial multi-lingual support was a crucial style objective from the start, Akira Kobayashi, Monotype type director and main designer on the job, relied on a network of local designers worldwide for their specific language proficiency. As a result, the information-- which might be as subtle as stroke curvature and width-- are consistent throughout Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic and numerous Asian languages.

SST performs similarly well in print and on-screen and the styles can be used at really small sizes in product packaging and brochures; while massive print headings-- even made complex wayfinding tasks position no stumbling blocks to the family's typographic dexterity. While the household is likewise large enough to manage complex typographic hierarchy, SST sets handsomely with typefaces as far reaching as ITC Berkeley Old Design ®, Meta ®, PMN Caecilia ®, Malabar ® and Neue Swift ®.
