Rather, utilizing what one keeps in mind of history and our cumulative vision of the future (normally a future pictured from the past) and directing that into something that is, hopefully, new ... The Bentons satisfy Frutiger for a Manhattan on an area station while Matthew Carter sways to the sweet noises of the chorale that sometimes played through the halls of Stephenson Blake.
This smear of implicit history expressed without explicit reference-this is Stamen: a family of 12 typefaces with a lot of alternate characters.
The strong weight was created for the LP "I Idea the Future Would Be Cooler" (http://ittfwbc.com/) by the band YACHT in reaction to their request for a typeface that was 'lost in time', and describes neither strict historical models nor purely futuristic types.
I built a little household out from there. It works well in text, however just as well for display setting. I believe you'll delight in using it.
