Sugo Pro is a condensed geometric sans serif with a robust body, somewhat rounded corners and no-nonsense street design attitude. The tough, robust design of Sugo makes it an ideal option for sports branding and street-style editorial use. Lighter weights provide fantastic legibility at small sizes while the routine and strong weights are more matched to entitling, logo and headlines.
It was created in 2006 by Francesco Canovaro in two weights (routine and extralight) and later used by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini as base inspiration for the design of the successful Zetafonts' Cocogoose Pro typeface. In 2018 the household was completely redesigned by Andrea Tartarelli, broadening the original glyph set to include cyrillic and greek and including 3 additional weights and italics. The brought back and revamped variation, called Sugo Pro Classic, likewise includes full Open Type features for positional figures, Alternates and Small Caps, and brings back alternate glyph shapes developed by Canovaro for the original Sugo, accessible as Stylistic Alternates.
A companion typeface, Sugo Pro Display, uses these alternates as base glyphs and offers a tighter kerning, suitable for screen use and logo design.
