Developed by Hans Eduard Meyer for the Stempel foundry in 1968, Syntax is based on both Renaissance tiny writing and Roman lapidary capitals.

The design is a blend of a monoline sans serif with a more dynamic humanistic roman, leading to a highly understandable sans serif type with a large variety of uses, from captions and text to product packaging and signage.
