Taca was released by Rúben R Dias. Taca includes 5 designs and household package alternatives. p > Taca is a typeface built around a shape that Portuguese designer Rúben R Dias calls a "squircle" - neither square nor circle. We typically associate the rounded, convex box with the television screens of the 1960s and Aldo Novarese's classic typeface, Eurostile. But whereas Eurostile is cold and machined, Taca is warm and rugged, as if it was formed from clay or carved from stone.

Taca's natural nature is also stemmed from another unique function: rounded crotches at the best angles where perpendicular strokes fulfill. This subtle surface, along with blunt stroke endings, softens the otherwise rigid skeleton.

With such a strong conceptual vision, Taca might be relegated to the bin of speculative styles, seriously restricted in their application. However that fate is usually born of a less skilled maker. As a teacher, designer, and letterpress printer, Dias is a type user, acutely knowledgeable about the functional requirements of excellent type. Taca is for that reason not a slave to its idea, however a working font style family, reliable in numerous sizes and environments. Its lettershapes break away from the base shape whenever it makes sense for legibility, while still maintaining the taste of the design as a whole. That said, a set of squircle-shaped alternates give the user the versatility to get more elegant if the scenario calls for it.

Fitting to its functional aims, Taca has numerous of the functions one anticipates of a proper text font style: upper and lowercase figures, case-sensitive punctuation, and Extended Latin language support.

The simplicity, openness, and squareness of Taca's kinds likewise make it a perfect design for the pixel grid of screen display screens.
