Tangent was substantiated of a simple concept:

I began the project with a circle to form the letter 'o' and after squaring off one corner, ended up with a letter form I had not seen elsewhere; this for me was inspiration enough to see if I might finish the alphabet. At first designing the characters to get an overview, I employed the angle any place possible to produce the digressive style of this particular typeface.
