Many years ago I worked for a sign-writing business. My job was to copy and increase the size of letter sets from printed copy and then cut masks for airbrushing. One morning I got to my desk to find that the airbrush artist had written on a rough, rubbed out, scribbled on drawing of the letter 'a' - "make a letter pleased, make it lovely".
That was the brief I set myself in the style of Tatty - to make every letter delighted and lovely. The outcome is a flowing, elegant yet basic type which I believe works especially well for poetry.
