Publisher: TetradtypeTextTile is a system of heavy sans entitling faces which can be utilized to bring a repeating chromatic pattern across words and letters. It stands apart from other chromatic faces, where layered results typically engage only within each letter and do not execute from one letter to another.
The pattern repetition throughout letters of varying widths is accomplished through OpenType substitution, using conditional alternates for each successive letter to enable a seamless look throughout words, despite letter mixes. Though the pattern exists on a rigorous grid and the letters' widths and spacing should be highly routine in order to maintain the pattern repeat, the letterforms themselves are not rigid; rather, they appear natural, lively.
The preliminary release consists of patterns motivated by a classic buffalo plaid, separated into its horizontal and vertical parts to maximize the innovative possibilities for layering one-, two-, 3-, and even four-color plaid patterns. Kits are available to produce the plaid pattern in information-- with overlapping diagonal hatching fully noticeable-- or as a simplified version in which openness can be utilized to simulate plaid or to create a checkered or striped effect.
