Following through on the stencil part of the design, Tuxedo Stencil JNL was produced in both routine and oblique versions.
The 1930s were the period of sophisticated dinner clubs and night spots, and it was not uncommon to discover gentlemen all decked out in formal wear for a night on the town, thus the font's name.
