Umkhonto was created by Anton Scholtz and published by Scholtz Fonts. Umkhonto includes 4 styles and family bundle choices. p > Umkhonto is the Zulu word for SPEAR, the conventional weapon of war that the Zulus utilized. The sharp points of the letters face upwards and represent the sharp points of the unsafe spears. The typeface consists of a full 256 character set: all upper and lower case letters, along with all numerals and punctuation. It also consists of the most typically utilized characters used in non-English European languages such as Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.

The numerals are mono-spaced so that they will line up properly in columns of figures. The letters of the alphabet are spaced according to their width and are thoroughly kerned.
