Excoffon developed a brand-new logo design for Air France back in the early 1970s, and the lettering formed the basis for the complete Antique Olive typeface style. Antique Olive is still quite popular, undoubtedly particularly in France, although it is not that easy to set type with it. It is not really good for prolonged text copy but rather ideal for large headings, advertisements, and posters. It can be set tight and even really tight without jeopardizing legibility or optical quality. A company logo design bring to life the typeface design along with Antique Olive's character shapes seem to make it especially well fit for logo designs and letterings of that kind. Its advantages are the strength of character and distinctiveness.
