Zebrawood was developed by Carl Crossgrove, Carol Twombly, Kim Chansler and published by Adobe. Zebrawood consists of 2 designs and household package choices. p > Of the many nineteenth-century wood type styles, the most popular seem to be variations of the Antique Tuscan style, which included scalloped contours and upturned, pointed serifs. Designers of wood type discovered the Tuscan design to be ideal for decoration, shading, and decor.

Adobe's Zebrawood progressed from letters first seen in a specimen brochure from the 1854 Wells and Webb Type Business. Zebrawood has a strong upper half, open lower half, finished dots, and deep shadow; a style frequently used for circus posters and ads. Zebrawood, launched in 1994, is a chromatic typeface (chromatic or multicolored typefaces were very first created by thoroughly signing up and overprinting 2 or sometimes three variations of each letter in various colors to produce a flamboyant look).

Zebrawood has an alternate variation of each letter which can be utilized for multiple color printing.
