Zulia is located in the west of Venezuela and it is the state in where Joluvian matured. It is an area of sunshine, heats, oil and pleasant individuals, although we choose the name to honor his mother who is from there (zuliana) and who takes pride in her land and whatever that it represents the area.
Zulia is also his first typographic job. It is based upon two of his favourite calligraphic styles: italic and brush pen. He began with simple and contrasted strokes on paper with brush and marker. After that he established the full alphabet and its numerous choices for each letter, beginning with a set of handcrafted kinds that could be linked in various methods according to the user requires. What inspires him to include this design was to develop a distinction with his daily work by creating a much heavier type, contrasted and low rise.

Zulia lastly got life of its own with the involvement of Alejandro Paul and a feedback of strategies and abilities that were created with the duo work.

Zulia is not simply a typeface, Zulia is his love of letters.
