Created by Laura Worthington, Congenial is a sans serif font style household. This typeface has ten designs and was published by Laura Worthington.

Wanting to design her own sans-serif typeface for her own web site to complement the rest of her type library, Laura Worthington designed Congenial as a downplayed, extremely understandable enhance to her more decorative display screen faces. Naturally, Laura is never far from her calligraphic roots, so Congenial keeps some hand-drawn aspects, noticeable especially in the much heavier weights of this generous 10-face family: for example, the swelling diagonal stroke of the capital X, and the flared terminals of the K, L, Q, and Z. At lighter weights the strokes end up being practically monoline, however the humanist tendency is still obvious-- see the graceful, distinctly non-geometric curves of the k, e, and g.

As befits its name, Congenial is a friendly and welcoming face with a generous x-height and extremely distinguished characters. In fact, look closely and you will not see a sharp, modernist edge anywhere. Like a perfect host, Congenial draws little attention to herself, yet she's set up whatever for simple and easy comfort-- so you can focus on communicating whatever you need to say.
