Terminals are clipped at 90 ° angles to the stroke and counters are slightly condensed, saving space with no loss of legibility. The lightweight have a subtle sophistication, while the vibrant are commanding. All eight weights, and their italic companions, enjoy a large character set, with support for a lot of Main and numerous Eastern European languages-- including Cyrillic and Greek.
Drawn by Jörg Hemker, the inspiration for FF Nort originated from Transportation, the typeface created for Britain's highway signs. Transport is official, intellectual, and a model for contemporary street signage, but it was not planned for little sizes or continuous reading. Hemker took the basic structure of Transport and reconstruct it into a style that's ideal for a broad variety of modern hardcopy and digital imaging projects.
