ITC Galliard is an adaptation of Matthew Carter’’ s 1978 phototype design for Mergenthaler. Galliard was designed on the work of Robert Granjon, a sixteenth-century letter cutter, whose typefaces are renowned for their appeal and legibility. Matthew Carter integrated his design abilities with computer-aided technology to produce this sophisticated revival.

ITC Galliard is a noteworthy typeface for text; the italic is extremely distinct in periodic pieces such as invitations and informal announcements.
