JAF Herb was developed by Tim Ahrens and released by Just Another Foundry. JAF Herb consists of 4 designs and family package choices. p > Herb is based upon 16th century cursive damaged scripts and printing types. Originally developed by Tim Ahrens in the MA Typeface Design course at the University of Reading, it was more refined and extended in 2010.

The idea for Herb was to establish a typeface that has the positive properties of blackletter however does not stimulate the same unfavorable undertones-- a type that has the complex, gentle character of fraktur without looking conservative, aggressive or intolerant.
