Poetica was designed by Robert Slimbach and released by Adobe. Poetica consists of 1 style. p > Poetica was developed in 1992, and is the very first Adobe Originals script typeface; modeled on chancery handwriting scripts developed throughout the Italian Renaissance. This classy design of composing formed the basis for italic typefaces and for contemporary calligraphy.

Adobe designer Robert Slimbach captured the vigor and grace of the chancery writing style in this new series of designs. Particular of the chancery hand, Poetica consists of alternate swash characters, ligatures, and decorative designs to decorate an otherwise official script.

To represent the variety of form and richness of this hand, Slimbach developed alternate alphabets and character sets that consist of a diverse collection of letterforms.
