Quartal is a family of stylish sans serif typefaces of condensed proportions. The family consists of 5 routine weights, 4 condensed ones and 13 extended styles (7 upright and 6 italic). At initially there was intention to release simply 4 condensed weights for headings and advertizing texts, but later on 5 designs of wider proportions were included. As the outcome the location of applications ends up being much larger due to possibility to use the font for smaller point sizes. The name Quartal, which in this case implies city quarter, according to author's associations emphasizes advertizing nature of the style most ideal to the city environment. Character set of the font styles covers alphabets of Western Europe and basic Cyrillic languages. Besides it includes a variety of alternatives, specifically in Cyrillic part.
