Named after the unfaltering medical professional from Albert Camus' The Plague, Rieux is an even-tempered slab-serif that is confident without being arrogant and friendly without being casual.
The visual of Rieux is influenced by the industrial age. While the style is not directly originated from typefaces of that era, the shapes of letter-forms are informed by images of over-sized steel devices and the monolithic brick buildings that housed them.
For applications where the typographic needs are not extensive, a decreased character set variation of Rieux is readily available. Called Rieux Minus, this variation does not include any of the OpenType includes with the exception of ligatures. Rieux Minus still supports Western, Main and Eastern European languages
