ZagoraTM, based on an art deco style (original typeface name and designer unknown), is named for a small Moroccan town on the border of the Sahara desert, where a signboard at the edge of a fantastic area of sand points the way to Timbuktu (52 days by camel). For whatever factor, while working on this typeface, I was reminded of Morocco and that wonderful little town.
